Mostly positive, one small glitch

My company used Deel for contractor management to pay several freelancers across different countries. The global payroll feature worked well, and everyone received their payments without issue. The interface for submitting invoices and tracking payments was easy enough for our contractors to use. My only minor gripe was during the initial setup of one contractor; there was a slight delay in verifying their bank details, which pushed their first payment back by a day. Customer service was helpful, though, and explained the reason. Overall, it's a solid platform that delivers on its core promise, offering good value for managing international teams.

Consistent contractor management

I've been using Deel for about a year now to manage our contractors. This latest experience for adding a new contractor in Brazil was just as smooth as previous times. The process is consistent; I just input their details, they sign, and it's done. I appreciate the reliability – payments always go through on schedule, and the automated tax filing is a lifesaver. It's why I keep coming back, it just works without any surprises.

Good EOR for small team

We used Deel's Employer of Record service to hire someone in Portugal. The setup process was pretty straightforward, I followed their guide and had no major issues. It took about a week to get everything finalized before the employee started. Their compliance documents were all in order, and the local employment contract looked solid. Payroll processed on time, which is crucial. I did have a question about health insurance options and their support chat was responsive, got an answer within a few hours. The platform itself is quite intuitive for managing contracts and expenses. No complaints so far, it handled what we needed it to do for international hiring.

Simple contractor payments

Needed to pay a contractor in Canada. Deel handled it easily. Signed up, added the contractor, paid. Funds arrived fast. Interface was clean. Much better than wiring money directly.

Fantastic for international hiring!

This platform is absolutely amazing! We just hired our first employee through Deel's EOR service in the UK, and it was seamless. They took care of everything from legal compliance to payroll and even equipment provisioning. The onboarding was super quick, and our new hire was delighted with how straightforward it all was. I can't believe how much time and hassle this saved us. We will definitely be using Deel again for all our future international hires!

Regarding the Deel Card, how does it work for paying contractors? Is it like a normal debit card or what?

A Andre A. 4 weeks ago
It's basically a virtual card you can issue to your contractors. They can then use it for expenses or whatever. It's tied to their Deel balance, so it's pretty convenient for them to access funds.

Yeah, it's pretty much a debit card linked to their earnings. Makes it easy for contractors to get paid and spend money without needing a bank transfer every time. I think you can even set limits on it.

Hey, thinking about using Deel for EOR stuff. Anyone know if there are any current deals for new companies? Like a startup discount or something similar?

N Noor 4 weeks ago
Yeah, I got a startup discount when I signed up last year. I think it was like 20% off for the first year through some partner program. Worth looking into.

Check if you're a Y Combinator alum or something. They often have specific partner deals. Also, sometimes Mercury Bank or Brex users get perks too, might be worth seeing if you qualify.

Is Deel actually legit for handling all the sensitive HR data? I'm a bit paranoid about putting everything online.

S Sarah Reyes 1 month ago
They seem pretty solid. Been using them for over a year and haven't had any issues. Plus, they handle payments globally so they have to be secure, right?

I've read up on their security stuff and it looks good. I mean, they're a huge company, they wouldn't last long if their data security was weak. I wouldn't worry too much.

Wondering about the whole onboarding process. How long does it actually take to get a new employee set up through Deel, especially for international hires?

C Cody Y. 1 month ago
It was pretty quick for us. Once you have all the info, like a few days to a week tops for most of our hires. Depends on the country though, some places have more red tape.

Depends what you mean by 'set up'. Payroll ready? That's fast. But getting all the local compliance docs and stuff can add a bit of time, especially if the employee needs to do some things on their end. But overall, way faster than doing it ourselves.

Comparing Deel with Remote.com. Anyone used both or have strong opinions on which is better for a small-medium size company with a few international contractors?

K Kate Doyle 1 month ago
Deel felt more intuitive for us, especially with the contractor management features. Remote.com was good too, but Deel's interface just clicked better.

It really depends on your needs. For just a few contractors, either is probably fine. Deel has some nice integrations and the Deel Card is handy, but Remote.com also has its strengths. Maybe try to get a demo from both if you haven't already.
